During my time as a labor nurse, I have attended over 200 births and am in awe every time!

My Doula Journey

MY STORY

When I was 15 years old my love for the birthing process began when my sister-in-law let me be part of her home birth. I was moved by the beauty and power she had within her. She had a doula who supported her in this beautiful transition to motherhood, and so when I had my first baby, I knew I wanted a doula by my side!

My doula helped me through a pretty traumatic hospital birth where I would have felt powerless without her. Shortly after my birth I was given the opportunity to do volunteer work, as a labor support person for a homeless shelter focused on teen moms. I had found my new passion and my heart belongs to these strong mamas.

After that experience, I decided I wanted to go to school to become a Registered Nurse with the goal to work in the family birth center. I went to Washington State University to get my bachelor's degree and am thrilled to say I have been working in the family birth center/labor and delivery in the hospital for over 5 years now!

Although I love my job and role there as a labor nurse, I feel my true calling is doula work. I want to support all stages of this journey including labor preparation, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding, bringing more comfort, care and education to new families.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Pregnancy is a powerful and beautiful transformative journey to be on.  I encourage mothers to use all their senses to help guide them through. My goal is to help mothers feel empowered with knowledge and help them navigate their way through the birthing process with more ease and comfort.

I feel one of the best ways for me to support a mother is to ensure she feels safe, cared for, heard and understood.

- Brynn (Vancouver, WA)

"I want to give my praises to Wendy for her help and gentle demeanor during my labor and delivery. She was truly wonderful and the whole experience exceeded any expectations I had. After my experience, my thoughts towards birth completely changed. No longer did I fear birth as a scary, terrible thing that women had to endure but rather a blessing and reassurance that we were made and built for this incredible task. I was able to labor at home with Wendy and deliver our baby Dallas naturally at the hospital. Everything I ever wanted out of my birth ~ it was truly perfect. Now my heart is set on helping others in this new chapter of their lives."

Looking forward to our consultation and hearing all about your hopes for your birth. I’m here for you every step of the way!
