We offer two different methods of placenta pills. The Gentle method is cleaned and dehydrated, then ground into powder, and capsuled. The Balanced Method is cleaned, steamed, dehydrated at 160 degrees then ground into powder, and capsuled. The Gentle Method is the most popular method as it yields the most capsules. The Balanced Method is a great fit for moms with anxiety disorders or are Group B Strep positive.

The most important factor? Keep it cold.

Until your placenta specialist arrives, please:

Store the placenta in a refrigerator or on ice at all times
Use a cooler or insulated bag with fresh ice (or ice packs)
Avoid sending the placenta to hospital pathology. Formaldehyde use makes encapsulation not safe and not possible to encapsulate.

Some hospitals and birth centers will hold your placenta in a fridge until pickup. Others may not. In that case, simply place it with your personal items or in your car (on ice), and we’ll coordinate a smooth handoff.

You’ll receive clear, step-by-step instructions in advance so you know exactly what to do.

Client Responsibilities & Placenta Contract

If you are birthing in a hospital: remind your care providers upon arrival that you plan to take your placenta, and remind them again during pushing. The local hospitals know us well and are very supportive!

You are responsible to buy a DISPOSABLE HOT/COLD FREEZER BAG. These bags can be found at Dollar Store, Target or any grocery store in the freezer section. NO STYROFOAM PLEASE.

Keep the cooler cold and in an iced state until your specialist arrives.

The placenta can remain at room temperature for up to 2 hours following the birth. Refrigerate or put it on ice as soon as reasonably possible. Improperly handled placentas are susceptible to spoilage.

We cannot encapsulate placentas that are examined in a hospital's pathology lab.

Call or text message us at between 7am and 7pm to arrange a time to pick up the placenta..

It is the responsibility of the client to let their specialist know if they are Group B Strep Positive.

If mom or baby has infection at birth or 72 hours after birth, It is client responsibility to communicate fever or illness to their specialist. We will not encapsulate if your baby has been ill soon after birth.
